I cover three main electronics subjects: general electronics, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi. The Rpi GPIO can be used as a stripped down Arduino but operates under Linux, in my case I use Debian. I program the Rpi to simulate a desktop Linux computer. What I write in Python for Rpi (minus GPIO) works in a regular Linux PC.

With that said Rpi 3 is still a low end PC. So I use alternative PC desktops to make for lack of power. Openbox, Fluxbox, and JWM are super fast. Learning these on Rpi translates directly to desktop PCs.
