  1. It's an attitude reminiscent of certain proprietary OSs that shall remain unnamed. Take away all the options and then leave third parties the only way to change things around.

  2. This is why I LOVE LINUX!! While I can't stand Gnome DE, I really tried to like it in Pop! OS, Linux gives me a choice of DEs and I can pick the ones I love. Just like everyone else can choose what they love. This is important because I have noticed most people my age like the Xfce and similar interfaces while more young people seem to like KDE or similar DEs. This makes sense to me since I grew up on Windows XP and older. To me THIS interface (WindowsXP and Xfce) is intuitive. Many interfaces that others call intuitive (like Gnome and Budgie) totally stump me!
This reminds me of MS Word. Many people say that MS Word works the way they think. It never worked for me. Lotus Word Pro worked the way I think and it still would be my choice IF they ever had a Linux version. MS Word would reformat after I entered a frame with a picture or word box and things would NOT look like I wanted it to. Lotus Word Pro would keep frames and content WHERE I PUT IT. Gnome reminds me of MS Word, DO IT MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY! Xfce lets me put things where I want them and that is what I want.
On the topic of FOTO-OG-RAFY, I absolutely love macro-photography as my VERY FIRST camera kit included a 100mm macro lens. While Ryan is a girlie-man where spiders are concerned, insect photography is wonderful and if you have any galleries on-line please let me know about it.
I agree with Neal. Fill up at a quarter tank since the fuel pump relies on the gas for cooling. It SHOULD help it to last longer if you keep more gas in your tank.

  3. Whenever I read something from a Gnome developer there seems to be a distinct whiff of arrogance. This is quite off-putting. For all the high-minded talk about helping the user, I think their core priorities are for making the Gnome develpers' work easier.

  4. I like Gnome 40 as modified by Ubuntu in 21.10. I like the way Gnome deals with work spaces. I would not use plain Gnome 40, too many redundant actions to get things done, probably I would move to XFCE; Mate or Budgie. I want to be able to start my favorite programs with one click.
I don't like Plasma, too many options and too many redundant actions to get things done. I hate Discover.
